Cock rings are one of the simplest and most popular sex aids on the market, so what are they? As the name suggests, it’s a ring that goes around the cock and the primary function is preventing blood from flowing back out of the penis, to help make erections harder, last longer and more intense.

Delicious Doughnuts
Great for beginners and pros alike, it’s no surprise these basic rings are the most popular on the market. Usually made from a rubbery material or silicone, donut rings can be worn singularly or use a couple to make different configurations.
Adjustable rings or quick release
Rings with adjustment or “speeds” are good for beginners because they can be removed easily, but they are also great for people who want to tighten the ring during play and increase the intensity!
Double rings or figure 8s
These are a two in one cock ring. Use one ring around your cock and the other around your balls. Alternatively you can double up and use both rings on your cock or shaft!
Rigid cock rings
These rings are usually made from metals like stainless steel and shouldn’t be taken lightly! Metal rings are not recommended for beginners.
USING YOUR COCKRING
Now you have your precious (and you’ve cleaned it), put some lubricant on the inside of the ring and put the testicles through, one at a time. Then push the flaccid penis through. Some people like to put cock rings on shaft first but it’s whatever is easiest for you.
The ring should be tight but not too tight, check it’s giving a slightly enlarged look, pronounced veins and a red blush. If the ring is too tight it will be uncomfortable, visible narrowing of the penis where the ring sits and/or very red or bluish in colour. If you have any of these symptoms remove the ring immediately. After 30 minutes you should remove the ring and let blood flow return to normal, then you can put the ring back on for continued use. It is not advised to use cock rings if you are overly tired or under the influence, any chance you could fall asleep straight away after? Don’t use a ring.
Since cock rings are restricting blood flow it is important to talk to your doctor before using one if you:
- Take blood thinners
- Have diabetes
- Have any type of blood or nerve disease
- Have cardiovascular disease

Some people like to do a little “landscaping” before wearing a cock ring to prevent hair getting tangled or knotted. Lube is your best friend but make sure it is compatible with the material of the ring.
